Description

Vintage Gucci 3000L ladies wristwatch in a gold-plated (gilt) round case with a champagne/gold dial signed "GUCCI" over an interlocking GG logo and marked "SWISS MADE." The bezel is engraved with Roman numeral hour markers and the crown bears the GG monogram. The caseback is stamped with the Gucci knight crest and reference "3000 L." Fitted on a green crocodile-embossed leather strap with gold-tone buckle (an aftermarket replacement band). Case measures approximately 25mm in diameter excluding the crown. The gold-plated case shows brassing/wear at the edges and light surface scratches consistent with age. Quartz movement; in working condition. Notes from the Curator The 3000 Series embodied the architectural spirit of 1980s Gucci, designed to slip beneath a blazer cuff with its slim, graphic profile. Dials were often stripped of all indices, making the watch a pure object of design, though this Roman-numeral-bezeled variant offered legibility without sacrificing the collection's minimalist discipline. The bezel itself is gold-plated with Roman numerals in black and the double-G logo at twelve o'clock, a detail that anchors the champagne dial in Gucci's iconography while maintaining restraint. This pursuit of the ultra-slim silhouette was a shared obsession of the decade, and the 3000L's 25-millimetre case—aligned with contemporary preferences for balanced, wearable proportions—reflects Gucci's command of jewellery-watch construction. Production dates to the 1990s, when Gucci partnered with Severin Montres before acquiring the manufacturer outright in 1997, ensuring every piece carried Swiss quartz credentials without compromise. The knight-crest caseback remains a signature of the era's attention to heraldic detail, a quiet gesture toward Florentine lineage in an otherwise modern proposition.
