Michael Alighieri

Owner, Alighieri's Auction House

Newnan, Coweta County, Georgia

Owner of an auction house selling fine jewelry, luxury watches, designer handbags and estate collections.

About Michael

Michael Alighieri owns Alighieri's, an auction house headquartered in Newnan, Georgia. He built it to bring the rigour and transparency of the great auction rooms to online bidding, pairing careful cataloguing with curated live and timed auctions that connect consignors with collectors across the country and around the world.

Under his ownership, Alighieri's has grown into a full-service auction house spanning fine jewelry, luxury watches, designer handbags, estate jewelry, precious gemstones, fine art and sterling silver, serving clients in Coweta County, Georgia and Bucks County, Pennsylvania as well as nationwide online. Every lot is examined, researched, photographed and documented by the house before it is offered for sale.

Beyond the auction calendar, the house handles private sales, estate buy-outs and full estate liquidations, working with families, executors and collectors who need a discreet hand with significant property.

On the name he carries

Michael was not born an Alighieri. He took the name in tribute to the poet Dante Alighieri, whose Divine Comedy he credits as the guide he needed at a point when he had no other. There is no family connection to the poet and none is claimed. He has written about the decision, and about the poem, on our name.

What the house sells

Alighieri's concentrates on signed fine jewelry, Swiss watches from houses such as Rolex, Patek Philippe and Cartier, and designer handbags from Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Chanel, alongside estate jewelry, precious gemstones and fine silver.

How the house works

The standard Michael sets does not change with the lot: honest descriptions, complete photography and documented provenance wherever it exists, whether bidding opens at fifty dollars or fifty thousand. For consignors that discipline is the point — it is what buyers price in.
