Description

Hermes reversible double-tour (double-wrap) leather bracelet with the signature palladium-tone "H" buckle closure, from the Behapi line. The buckle interior is stamped "HERMES" and "MADE IN FRANCE." The thin leather strap is reversible, showing tan/fauve (with contrast saddle stitching) on one side and black on the other, and wraps twice around the wrist; it measures approximately 8 mm wide with multiple adjustment holes. Condition shows visible wear: scratching and darkening/tarnish to the metal buckle, surface scuffing and rubbing to the leather, and finish loss along the strap edges consistent with use. No box or pouch is shown. Notes from the Curator The Behapi name encodes its own design: "Be" signals the bracelet's reversible construction, and "hapi" draws from the initials of its creator, the French designer Pierre Hardy. The elongated H-shaped buckle nods both to the maison's initial and to the house's H-buckle belt, translating equestrian hardware into a slim, wrist-worn silhouette. Hermès executes the visible stitching in hand saddle stitch, a technique that passes two needles and a single waxed linen thread through each awl-pierced hole, creating a seam that will not unravel even if one section fails. The double-tour format—strap wound twice, closure direct on the wrist—requires precision in sizing and allows the wearer to flip the leather daily, extending the life of both surfaces. Palladium hardware resists tarnish better than silver plate and complements the black-and-tan pairing, a combination rooted in the house's saddlery palette: bride leather on one side, the matte warmth of natural vachetta on the other, each chosen to age in step with the owner's habits.
