Description
Base length: 15 in Width: 3.5 in Height: 9.75 in Drop: 3.75 in Notes from the Curator The nylon Lady Dior with the "RU 0937" date code visible in the images dates to September 1997, a vintage example from the first years after Princess Diana carried the bag and prompted its renaming in her honour. The maison had introduced the bag initially in lambskin in 1994, then embossed the Cannage motif onto nylon in the mid-Nineties—the pattern itself drawn from the caning of the Napoléon III gilded chairs Christian Dior used at his 1947 show, where cane imprints lingered on clients' clothing and caught his imagination. The red Cannage jacquard lining, hand-rolled patent-leather handles, and gold-toned D.I.O.R. charms complete the house codes of this Italian-made variant. Nylon allowed the structured silhouette to be lighter than leather, and these late-Nineties editions remain rare survivors in the secondary market—collectors prize them for their connection to the period when the Lady Dior first achieved global recognition.
