Description
8.75 in H x 13.5 in W 6 in handle drop 18 in strap drop Notes from the Curator The Galleria takes its name from the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the Milanese arcade where Mario Prada opened his first boutique in 1913, the same year he patented the crosshatched Saffiano leather that defines this tote. Eighty-three individual pieces compose each medium Galleria, assembled in Prada's Scandicci factory outside Florence, where the heat-stamped calf is finished with a wax coating for water and scratch resistance. This example is rendered in Cammeo—a soft pinkish-beige—with gold hardware, a pairing that has remained in steady production since the bag's introduction in 2007. Inside, collectors know the Galleria by its nickname "three pockets": a central compartment flanked by two zippered side sections, all lined in the house's signature jacquard. The model earned the sobriquet "Assassin Bag" in Chinese markets after appearing in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, carried by Léa Seydoux's character, cementing its reputation as a bag of quiet authority.
